Imagery

Good web images enhance the other content on a webpage. They help users orientate themselves by providing a visual cue that tells them where to look when they return.

Even though it’s great to keep the connection between images and content, it need not necessarily be the first priority. If something is too ‘on the nose’, it could be considered uninteresting. If we see what we have come to expect from an image on a website, it may have less impact than an image thatt shocks, or is in someway off-center.

How did is done is up for discussion. Imagery that is aesthetically and emotionally appealing can grab our users attention very easily. On the other hand, these things are subjective, and while a picture is worth 1000 words, the thousand words in question may not always be the same for every user…
